The February program to be held at the Puskarich Public Library on February 27 at 1:00 p.m. will feature genealogist (and member) Judy Willliams from Youngstown in celebration of Black History Month. She will present her program via Skype and will be highlighting her research for her Harrison County Roots including her visit to Cadiz this summer for a family reunion. Judy will share with those present where her search has taken her in the last year. Everyone is invited to come!

The Puskarich Public Library has become home for a newly-formed knitting group. Experienced and newbies are welcome.
Jane Hazel of Tippecanoe will be leading the group. She has been crocheting for about 35 years and knitting for about 25 years. “I don’t consider myself a professional by any means, but I do love to help others learn the arts of knitting and crocheting”, says Jane.

Joseph J. Maiorano, Family and Consumer Science Educator of the Ohio State University Extension will teach a 2-lesson course on March 5 & 19 from 6 - 7:00 p.m. at the Puskarich Public Library. The courses will provide individuals and families with information, worksheets, and action steps for improving their money management.

The Ohio Benefit Bank will hold a free tax clinic,
at the Puskarich Public Library, 200 E. Market St., Cadiz, on February 18 from 9:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m. and on March 7 from 2:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m.
The service is provided for any household making less than $54,000 a year.
Completed tax forms are E-filed for free and refunds can be direct deposited in order to obtain reimbursement promptly. To have a refund automatically deposited into their checking account, bank account information should be available.
The Benefit Bank will determine the tax credits a person can claim, including the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit.
The tax clinic cannot do farm income, income from rental properties or Business Schedule C returns.
Those coming to the tax clinic should bring all income information, deduction and credit information, social security numbers and birth dates of household members.

Dr. Robert C. Doyle is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned his BA and MA from Penn State and the Ph. D in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. He served as an officer in the U. S. Navy from 1967 to 1971, including South Vietnam in 1968, 1970-71. After earning his doctorate in 1987, Dr. Doyle taught at Penn State in the American Studies Program and in 1994  published the first interdisciplinary study of the American captivity experience, Voices from Captivity: Interpreting the American POW Narrative.

Andy "Captain Blue" Niekamp set out on a hikin gjourney on Ohio's  Trail on March 20th, 2011. His journey started at Deeds Point in Dayton. The goal of his hike was to hike on the Buckeye Trail for as long as it was fun. Over 1,400 miles and 88 days later Captain Blue returned to Dayton on the Buckeye Trail, the longest circular trail in the nation. Andy is the 7th person to complete a thru hike of the Buckeye Trail.

This 2-lesson course will provide individuals and families with information, worksheets, and action steps for improving their money management.
The classes will be taught by Joseph J. Maiorano, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator, from the Ohio State University Extension.
Lesson1 focuses on values about money. It offers suggested topics concerning money matters to consider and/or talk discuss with family members. Participants will be asked to begin thinking about and developing financial goals. Tools will be given to help participants prepare for lesson 2.
Lesson 2 focuses on guidelines and worksheets for developing a spending plan, or budget. This can help control day-to-day and longer term expenses. Participants will also be introduced to stratedgies for organized financial records and developing a net worth statement. Lastly, we will discuss issues related to consumer credit.
